Visiting those dreaded Bridal Shops

admin | Photos, Sponsors, Wedding | Thursday, 25 October 2007

21 Oct 2007 – Heaven forbid, I never want to take my wedding photos again. Michelle and I did the whole bridal photo set thingy back in Dec 2005, which was before my trip to Netherlands in Jan 2006. We decided to have a shoot in Ipoh as we found a shop that had great customer service and custom designed photo albums. We took shots in the studio, a lake near YMCA IPOH and a rubber plantation (forest). Its not surprised I got a lot of mosquito bites in that forest area.

So we headed down to Sunway about 11am on Sunday and visited 2 bridal shops for a feel of the price. All we wanted was to rent the gowns but it costs a freaking RM800 to rent just one (1) bridal gown. It’s better to grab a package that has car decorations and more than one gown. I shall not mention the first two bridal shops as their lowest price was above RM1800. Definitely out of our budget for this Problogger Wedding project.

Finally, I stumbled upon that cool corner bridal shop near KFC Sunway called Loyal Bridal. They even have their own website, cool. First met Cindy, who looked no older than 23 and she was a sweet young thing. I am sure my friend CheeLeong might like her ( haha ). Then we talked about having the cheapest package they had as we could do without all the fuss and knick-knacks. (Ting Ting $$$), the right bells rang up when we saw the figure Cindy showed us. The amount was very near our budget and we liked it. Now all we needed was to get some more free stuff. So she took Mr Chan (the manager) out to sit down with us. He’s a photographer and I had to smooth talk him in my broken Cantonese about blogs and internet. Luckily, my wife is good in Cantonese and she started the whole thing. I interjected a bit with some questions like “ How much did you spend on your shops’ website, etc ?” to get curiosity going.

In the end, we got a fairly good deal for our budget. (much lesser than RM1800) See below.

Our ProBlogger Wedding bridal and bridegroom photo session package :

1. 6 wedding gowns
2. 6 coats for the man
3. Makeup, hairdo
4. Usage of the classic white car
5. Photo taking in the Studio, Outdoor and Nighttime
6. Car decoration
7. DVD for the slides
8. 5 foot banner
9. A big picture frame for the hall
10. 2 photo albums

The other advantage of the deal was usage of the gowns in both the VIP and Super VIP room. The Super VIP had much nicer and newer designed gowns. I really loved the purple gown that we both selected. Michelle looks like Miss Universe in it. When you see our wedding album, you will know. That’s all for now, I have to do push ups and sit ups now to trim my tummy.
