Choosing a Wedding Favour is not easy

    Wedding Favour

Wedding Favours, oh no. Its so hard to choose one that fits in my budget. I’ve been running around looking for vendors in KL and internet. So have gone beyond my budget and I am still looking for the best ones…What do you recommend?

I like this Silver Heart Placecard Holder but I am not sure if they can deliver to Malaysia.

Here is a good post on choosing Wedding favours :

Wedding favours should be fun and inexpensive since it is the thought that counts.  One thing, however: make sure that whatever you give out will be appreciated from all the people that attend your wedding.  I say that because most couples tend to give out only one gift.  That gift might not be appreciated to the same extent depending on whether you are male, female, young, or old.

That being said, there are many ways to come up with ideas as to what to gift.  If you are inviting people from abroad, you might want to give something that reflects the local culture.  Alternatively, if you decide to hold your wedding during a special holiday (i.e., Christmas), you might want to add a Christmassy touch to your wedding favours.

In such ocassions, if you’re making your own wedding favours, the materials to make them could be easier found (i.e., gold and red cellophane wrapping paper are usually only available during Christmas) and could be cheaper (since there are more suppliers offering the same thing).

On a last note, while most of the wedding is about you, wedding favours should be about the guests.  Or, in other words, you should give something they will want to keep and something that has meaning.

Choosing our wedding flower bouquet

wedding flower bouquet

Our wedding will be having a tiffany blue theme. So it would be nice if Michelle had a nice matching wedding flower bouquet in that colour too. I will need to take a mental note and inform Loyal Bridal about it.

Now that the colour has been settled, there are other things to consider on the wedding bouquet - like body, shape, etc. Here’s a nice post on that matter.

There is an astonishing array of bouquet types available to the bride, and with all that choice, it can be hard to know where to start. A pageant bouquet (also called arm, sheaf, or presentation), hand-tied bouquets, and various specialty bouquets work for just about anyone, because they can all be created in dramatically different sizes, depending on the type and number of blooms used.

Wedding Checklist Status

Wedding Checklist

Americans take 6 months to plan a wedding. Chinese take up to a year. Michelle and I only planned to have our wedding 2 months before the event. Its chaos. All the weekends till December are filled with appointments and so far I think I’ve managed to cover half of the items to be done before that date. Its crazy, and I need sleep now…time is ticking. 1 month 17 days to go.

1. Venue (done)
2. Bridal shoot, gowns (done)
3. Car rental (done)
4. Photographer (done)
5. Video shoot (done)

6. Wedding cake (todo)
7. Wedding invitation cards (todo)
8. Florist (todo)
9. Wedding favours (todo)
10. Entertainment (todo)

Looks like 4 major items need to be cleared. I did not even have time to see what minor items need to be done yet….Stay tuned

I use Marketcircle’s Daylite software to keep things in check :

Daylite might just be the perfect thing you’re looking for to schedule, assign tasks, start a wedding pipleline, keep contacts etc. etc. - perfect for professionals with busy lives who are also planning a wedding! Daylite 3.5 is also the latest upgrade that allows the application to be run from a handheld gadget - iPhone, Blackberry etc. So mobile wedding plans too are possible.

My Dell Latitude D620 died

Filed under: Wedding — admin @ 7:29 am

Murphy’s law says “Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong”.

That’s the thing that happened yesterday evening. It was about 6pm plus when my laptop could not boot properly. The screen was a bit fuzzy when I detached the external LCD monitor and somehow it froze a few times. I had tons of emails to reply to on this wedding blog project…..

Then I saw it. The dreaded Blue screen of death infamous in the days of Windows 98 and Windows 2000. I saw a lot of that during my days as a Customer Engineer. I never fathom to see that on my wife’s 1 year old laptop. What a hassle.

Being an ex PC support engineer, I took that laptop apart.

So the message said something about Memory parity error. What a dumb thing to happen. Took me about 20 mins to open the latch and keyboard to find the RAM Slot A. Took it out, sprinkle some of my sliver on it and replace it back. I wonder why DELL uses this type of cheap RAM. Its not even a Kingston. ha!

Booted the laptop again and it still looks fuzzy. The display still shows the Blue screen of death and I’m just about to kick ths thing. Called DELL telephone support but they only work until 6pm. Don’t they know computer problems always happen after 6pm. I need to take a rest now. Sigh.

Update : 30 Oct. 1050pm
My Dell laptop works now. Deleted the Nvidia driver. Suspected that it won’t work with the new BIOS A08 version that was in it. Now running on just the VGA driver. Will downgrade BIOS to A04 version in awhile.

How do I love thee Michelle

Filed under: Poem, Wedding — admin @ 12:58 am

I would like to tell my wife how much I love her. I remember they used this poem in a 7-UP ad sometime ago..

How do I love thee?
Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love thee to the level of every day’s
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right.
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old grief, and with my childhood’s faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints. I love with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.
